18 Secrets Of Very Fit People

  1. Keep a water bottle with you at all times… and drink from it often
  2. Look at exercise as a pleasure and a privilege.  
  3. Even fat free, low cal food has calories.  Eat modest well-balanced meals and watch the calories.  It really does matter. 
  4. Limit caffeine and exposure to second-hand smoke
  5. Focus all your attention on short-term fitness goals.  If you make those… they will come.. (i.e. long term goals.) 
  6. Keep a daily log of what you’re eating… this includes EVERYTHING.
  7. Enjoy 1 once-a-week “unhealthy” treat. 
  8. Try to contribute to the health of others.  Knowing that you’re an example to others can motivate us to stay on track. 
  9. Avoid monotony.  Find new ways to exercise.  Keep it exciting. 
  10. Subscribe to fitness magazines.  I keep mine on the coffee table.  It’s the first thing I see when I try to sit my ass on the couch.  Looking at a girl with abs you could crack nuts on kinda makes you want to get up and do something. 
  11. Invest in good shoes, an iPod, snazzy music, dvds, whatever will keep you safe and motivated… the money is worth it many times over
  12. Make a goal to workout 6 days a week.  Even if it’s something small.
  13. Don’t negatively compare yourself to others.  Yes, inspiration is good, but being your own worst critic is not. 
  14. Take a multivitamin. 
  15. Don’t get stuck.  If you can comfortably run 3 miles… step it up a notch.  Try 4 today. 
  16. Measure yourself by the way your clothes fit, NOT the number on the scale.  I know this is difficult, but try to remember that the number on the scale will eventually follow. 
  17. Make your eating plan indefinite.  Don’t starve or fad.
  18. Get LOTS of sleep 8+ hours
